You have 12-metre-long steel plates. Or H-beams. Or pipes.
They’re covered in rust, mill scale, and old paint.
If you don’t clean them properly, your coating won’t stick. Your welds will be weak. Your client will reject the job.
You could blast them by hand – but that takes forever and covers everything in dust.
You could send them out – but that costs a fortune and kills your lead time.
There’s a machine that does it automatically: load the steel on one end, it rolls through a blasting chamber, and comes out the other side perfectly clean.
It’s called a conveyor blasting machine. And it’s why steel fabricators are finishing prep work in minutes instead of days.
What Is A Conveyor Blasting Machine Exactly?
Think of it like a car wash – but for steel.
Instead of brushes and soap, it uses high-speed steel shot (tiny metal balls) blasted at the surface.
Instead of a conveyor belt, it uses powered rollers that carry your workpiece through the machine.
You place a steel plate, beam, or pipe on the infeed rollers. The rollers carry it into a sealed blasting chamber. Inside, multiple blast wheels throw abrasives from different angles. The shot hits every surface – top, bottom, and sides – stripping away rust, scale, and paint.
The cleaned piece exits the other end, ready for painting, welding, or fabrication.
All automatically. All in one pass.
Who Buys A Roller Conveyor Blasting Machine?
From our real customer list:
Steel service centres – processing thousands of tons of plate and structural steel every month. They need speed and consistency.
Shipyards – cleaning large steel panels for hull construction. One customer in Singapore told us, “We used to spend 8 hours blasting a single panel by hand. Now our conveyor blasting machine does it in 20 minutes.”
Bridge and infrastructure fabricators – preparing massive beams and girders for painting. The machine handles pieces up to 12 metres long and 4 metres wide.
Heavy equipment manufacturers – cleaning components before welding or coating. Mining trucks, cranes, agricultural machinery – all need clean steel.
Pipe and tube mills – descaling round stock. The rollers can handle pipes with special V‑shaped supports.
Automotive and motorcycle frame builders – cleaning stamped and welded parts before powder coating

What Can A Conveyor Blasting Machine Clean?
- Steel plates – from 1.5 mm up to 110 mm thick
- Structural sections – H‑beams, I‑beams, channels, angles
- Pipes and tubes – round, square, rectangular
- Fabricated assemblies – welded frames, trusses, girders
- Castings and forgings – before machining or coating
The machine removes:
- Mill scale (the dark oxide layer from hot rolling)
- Rust and corrosion
- Old paint and coatings
- Welding slag and spatter
- Oil and grease (with pre-heating)
One customer in Australia uses his roller conveyor blasting machine to clean old steel beams for reuse in construction. He said, “The beams come in looking like junk. They come out looking like new steel. We’re saving 60% on material costs.”
The Numbers You Actually Care About
Here are our seven models. The number after YG is the effective cleaning width in millimetres.

How Does It Work?
- Load – place your steel on the infeed roller table. The rollers are driven by variable‑speed motors.
- Enter – the rollers carry the piece into the blasting chamber. A sensor detects the workpiece and automatically starts the blast wheels.
- Blast – multiple wheels throw abrasives from different angles. Top, bottom, and sides all get cleaned in one pass.
- Clean – as the piece exits, roller brushes sweep away loose shot and dust.
- Collect – spent abrasive falls through perforated floor plates, is collected by a screw conveyor, and is recycled for reuse.
- Unload – the clean piece exits on the outfeed rollers, ready for the next step.
One operator in Germany said: “I just load the steel, press start, and go do something else. The machine does the work.”

What About Maintenance?
Daily:
- Check abrasive levels – top up if low
- Inspect wear liners in the blasting chamber
- Check roller brushes for wear
Weekly:
- Check belt tensions on the conveyor drive
- Inspect blast wheel blades – replace if worn
- Clean the dust collector
Monthly:
- Inspect all wear parts – liners, impellers, control cages
