An egg carton making machine is a molded pulp production system that uses waste paper and water to form paper egg cartons through molds. The equipment is also commonly used for producing other molded pulp products, such as fruit trays and coffee cup holders.
The YG series provides capacities from 1,500 to 7,000 pcs/h, with different machine configurations for different production requirements. Available models range from YG-1500-4X1 to YG-7000-6X8.
The complete production process consists of pulp preparation, forming, drying, stacking and packing.
Egg Carton Machine Production Process from Waste Paper to Finished Trays
The egg carton making machine starts with waste paper as the main raw material. The documented materials include waste paper, cardboard, books and newspapers. A4 paper and books are specifically listed as suitable raw materials.
1. Pulp Preparation
Waste paper and water are processed in the pulping section. The system includes a pulper, pulp pump and mixing equipment.
The documented water-to-paper ratio for pulping is 1:10. The pulp then enters the mixing tank, where materials such as pigments and waterproofing glue can be added. A pulp pump transfers the mixture to the supply tank, where the pulp concentration is maintained at 3%-5%.
2. Pulp Forming
The forming section consists of the main machine, vacuum pump and air compressor.
Negative pressure from the vacuum pump allows the pulp to attach to the mold. Excess water passes through the stainless-steel mesh and returns to the water tank. The pulp is then vacuum-dewatered and formed into the required tray shape.
Positive pressure from the air compressor transfers the formed tray to the transfer mold and then onto the tray or conveyor.
3. Drying and Stacking
After forming, the trays enter the drying section through a conveyor or tray system. The documented drying process uses 180-220°C and takes approximately 15-20 minutes before the trays are completely dry.
After drying, the stacking machine counts and stacks the finished trays before packing.

Egg Carton Making Machine Drying Methods Compared
Drying is an important stage after pulp forming. The document lists four main drying methods: natural drying, drying box, civil construction drying and multi-layer metal drying.
| Drying Method | Main Process | Key Characteristics |
| Natural drying | Sunlight and natural wind | No energy required for drying |
| Drying box | Trays dried inside a box | Production can continue in windy or rainy weather |
| Civil construction drying | Conveyor through drying tunnel | Can be automated |
| Multi-layer metal drying | Trays pass through a multi-layer drying room | Compact layout and high automation |
1. Natural Drying
Formed trays are placed on trays and drying racks before being moved outdoors. Sunlight and natural wind complete the drying process.
The documented setup generally requires 100-200 racks, with each rack holding 24-30 mesh trays, and each mesh tray holding 3-4 egg cartons.
2. Drying Box
The trays are placed on galvanized trays and loaded into drying boxes. The documented drying time is approximately 30 minutes.
One box can hold 10-12 carts, with each cart carrying approximately 90-100 egg cartons. Additional carts can be prepared for continuous circulation.
3. Civil Construction Drying
Formed trays enter a drying tunnel through a conveyor. The documented drying process takes approximately 15 minutes at 180-200°C.
The drying tunnel is generally 40-70m long. Coal, wood, natural gas and diesel are listed as possible fuels.
4. Multi-Layer Metal Drying
The trays enter a six-layer drying room and undergo approximately 25 minutes of drying at 180-200°C.
The documented drying room has a length of 18m × 6 layers. Coal, wood, natural gas and diesel are listed as fuel options.

Egg Carton Machine Configuration for Different Production Requirements
The documented models provide a clear capacity range from 1,500 to 7,000 pcs/h.
For smaller production requirements, the YG-1500-4X1 provides 1,500 pcs/h. For higher-volume production, the YG-4000-4X8, YG-5000-5X8 and YG-7000-6X8 provide 4,000, 5,000 and 7,000 pcs/h respectively.
The machine configuration should be selected according to:
- Required hourly output
- Available installation space
- Drying method
- Power requirement
- Raw material supply
- Desired production process
This approach helps match the production line with the actual operating requirements rather than selecting a model based only on machine size.

Small Egg Tray Making Machine Raw Materials and Input Requirements
